Seeking:   .8 FTE Executive Director


The Executive Director of Greenwoods Eldercare Society ensures that safe, compassionate support and care is provided to the clients and residents the society serves. Reporting to the Non Profit Society's Board of Directors, the Executive Director provides direction for all aspects of the organization, ensuring that policies, procedures, By-Laws, guidelines, financial matters, union contracts, legal requirements and practices of the Society are effectively established and upheld.  The Executive Director demonstrates and encourages professionalism through the planning, directing, coordinating and management of day-to-day operations, maintaining a balance between on-going operations and strategic development initiatives that facilitate sustainable, long-term success.


Responsibilities include:

  • Demonstrating an understanding of best practices for seniors across a continuum that delivers community programming through to the highest quality, resident-centred care;
  • A solution-focussed philosophy and collaborative style;
  • Creating and maintaining a positive and productive culture;
  • Modelling and supporting continuous quality improvement;
  • Understanding of the legal and political climate in BC (unions, health authority, Community Care and Assisted Living Act and Regulations, and other applicable bodies) and ensuring compliance;
  • Setting and following standards for operational excellence;
  • Ensuring the hiring and retention of qualified staff;
  • Developing and maintaining positive relations with the broader community, service providers, funders, physicians and the health authority;
  • Delivering strong financial performance in the management of finances;
  • Securing additional funding through grants and donations;
  • Developing and monitoring the management of the physical sites.


Qualifications:

The Executive Director will have significant experience managing a government-funded facility, understand the challenges of Non-Profit operations and have a degree(s) appropriate for effective leadership within healthcare management or administration.
